Class: Constellation: Cam Data: mag 10.1 size 3.0' X 3.0' Position: RA 08:55.5 DEC +78:13 Description: A uniform round halo which gradually brightens to a bright, circular, diffuse core. Interestingly, at 133x the core appeared fleetingly stellar but at 267x it seemed to increase in size and to become more amorphous. The galaxy is nearly centered inside of a triangle of 7th and 10th magnitude field stars. -- ** This observing log was submitted via the IAAC Web form: www.visualdeepsky.org/enter-log.html From anonymous at s15272250.onlinehome-server.com Sat Apr 4 22:54:19 2009 From: anonymous at s15272250.onlinehome-server.com (anonymous at s15272250.onlinehome-server.com) Date: 4 Apr 2009 22:54:19 -0400 Subject: (IAAC) Obj: NGC 2629 - Inst: 10" f/4.7 Newtonian reflector Message-ID: <20090405025419.1430.qmail@s15272250.onlinehome-server.com> ---- Observation Poster: Brent Reary Observer: Brent Reary Your skills: Intermediate (some years) Date/time of observation: 3/18/09 02:40 UT Location of site: Rolla, MO USA (Lat 37 57'N, Elev ) Site classification: Rural Sky darkness: 6.5 Seeing: 6 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)> Moon presence: None - moon not in sky Instrument: 10" f/4.7 Newtonian reflector Magnification: 80x, 133x, 200x, 267x Filter(s): None Object(s): NGC 2629 Category: External galaxy. Class: Constellation: UMa Data: mag 12.3 size 1.0' X 1.0' Position: RA 08:47 DEC +72:59 Description: A uniform round halo which rather abruptly brightens to a fairly bright, nearly stellar core. A 13th magnitude field star is located just off the SE edge. Visible with averted vision at 80x, the galaxy was best seen at 200x and began to fade into the background at 267x. -- ** This observing log was submitted via the IAAC Web form: www.visualdeepsky.org/enter-log.html
