Class: E Constellation: Vulpecula Data: mag 8 size 20? Position: RA 20:32.5n DEC 28:08 Description: Vulpecula's 6940, close to Cygnus border, resembles a small glowing diamond at x25, with the use of a Deep Sky filter. At x80 it loses this apparition and becomes less compact, to stars to the N, to staggered sets of stars W-E underneath. The background glow is still visible at x80, prominent with the filter. It trails off to outliers E, in fact, and takes up at least 1/4 of a degree. At x40, it makes a teaspoon-like asterism. At x80 it resembles the 13 inch image in Burnham (III) but unfortunately detect no central glowing core beneath the two above-face stars. I see none of this, not even a glow. Chalk it up to my suburban sky and the slight autumn haze. -- Optional related URLs: http://www.geocities.com/kentauruscom/NAR_home.htm ** This observing log automatically submitted via the Web from: http://www.visualdeepsky.org/enter-log.html From anonymous at sedna.atmob.org Sun Oct 8 17:29:01 2006 From: anonymous at sedna.atmob.org (anonymous at sedna.atmob.org) Date: 8 Oct 2006 17:29:01 -0400 Subject: (IAAC) Obj: NGC 4332 - Inst: 10.1" f/4.5 Newtonian reflector Message-ID: <20061008212901.1460.qmail@sedna.atmob.org> ---- Observation Poster: Brent Reary Observer: Brent Reary Your skills: Intermediate (some years) Date/time of observation: 09/19/06 02:10 UT Location of site: Rolla, MO USA (Lat 37 57'N, Elev ) Site classification: Rural Sky darkness: 6.5 Seeing: 7 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)> Moon presence: None - moon not in sky Instrument: 10.1" f/4.5 Newtonian reflector Magnification: 77x, 128x, 193x Filter(s): None Object(s): NGC 4332 Category: External galaxy. Our internet presence experienced some hiccups - but we believe those should all be ironed out now! I'll post again (or email all of you individually if I have to) should new problems crop up this week... And sorry to have been absent last week - believe it or not, I really was on a desert island in the Bahamas, studying coral reefs! :) (And yes, the skies on the island were truly amazing. But no, sadly, I was working too hard at my job to do any all night observing sessions while I was there.)
